A guinea pig.

…it gets worse:

You are a guinea pig in a lab; the subject of experiments.

I also have some good news, though:

You are not only the guinea pig.

You are also the one performing the experiments.

You are, in fact, the one who decides which tests to run, and then you are the subject of those experiments.

Your life is the lab, and the only question is this:

What kind of experiments will you perform on yourself?

Will your test show what happens to a human who eats unhealthy food and never moves?

Will your test demonstrate how detrimental smoking and other drugs are to human health?

Will your test reveal how a lack of purpose leads to pleasure seeking and addiction?

Or will your test show how foundational healthy food is to physical and mental well-being?

Will it demonstrate the positive effects of courage and selflessness in a greedy world?

Will it reveal new evidence on how purpose is foundational to living a good life?

What sort of experiments will you run?

What will your experiments prove?

If we truly are guinea pigs in a lab and the ones performing the experiments, then it is not up to us to control the outcome – it is simply a result of the experiment.

But the tests we run? Those we choose – and they influence who we become.

The experimenter decides; the guinea pig is changed to change.

And you are both of them.
