Plowing your fields in Koine Greek

Keep your heart pure when you sing,

And keep your eyes open when you work.

For you do not want to praise the devil,

And you do not want to plow his fields.

For the beautiful song from your faithful heart,

And the fruits that grow behind your plow,

The devil is not worthy of. Be alert.

He possesses many hearts and many fields.

Do not become one of them.

The following is a poem I wrote in Koine Greek. Koine Greek was spoken around the time of the first century A.D. This ancient language was written in one long line. The Greeks had no spaces between words, no paragraphs, or punctuation. They also did not usually add an English translation to their Greek writing - quite inconsiderate of them, if you ask me.

Since I am obviously more civilized than the early great thinkers who built the foundation of our civilization, I have opted to use modern spacing and offer an English version as well :) Take that, Socrates!
