A New Word

I learned a new word today.

A word that I have been missing.

One that I have longed for as the endless winter rolls on.

One that I yearn to feel upon my face in place of torrent winds and battering sleet.

Apricity.

When I step out the door, I am met by the brisk air.

My shoes crunch in a fresh sheet of snow.

I turn my gaze skyward, and the sun falls upon my face.

I see yellow beneath my closed eyelids, my cheeks grow warm, and my heart leaps for joy!

Apricity!

When the fair blue sky radiates the warmth and embraces me.

When the gray months lose their darkness and rays of light awaken me to life!

Apricity! Apricity!
