Adventure will cost you

Allow me for a moment to be the voice of reason:

Don’t do it.

Just don’t.

It will cost too much.

Adventure will cost you comfort.

Choice will cost you consequences.

Freedom will cost you safety.

So, if you’re scared, don’t do it.

If you’re uncertain, don’t say it.

If it is out of the ordinary, don’t think it.

It could go wrong.

Don’t wonder.

Wondering leads to questions.

Questions lead to answers.

And answers lead to more wondering.

Say ‘no.’

‘Yes’ will make your world too big.

Keep it small.

Keep it familiar.

Not good enough - by what standard?

Don’t entertain opposing ideas.

They will complicate things.

Reject them.

Keep it simple.

Or …

Recognize that this is not the voice of reason at all.

It is the voice of fear, disguised as reason.

Don’t listen.
