Adonai

No voice to call for aid?

I’m lonely when I’m not alone

And silent when I am.

And if I’m lost, don’t cry for help,

I’d rather be lost on my own.

And therein hides the lie,

The Devil’s deception old as time,

That I have no voice to call for aid,

Stand absent choice when I am afraid.

But if Truth is light, let darkness hide

As it twists its evil schemes.

And I will call upon Adonai,

For They* have set me free.

*The Hebrew word ADONAI, contrary to its common understanding, does not mean ‘lord’ but ‘my lords’. It is a plural word and has the possessive pronoun built into it, and often, as in this instance, it refers to the God-family.
